About

I’m Kirk McElhearn; I write about things, and I take pictures of things.

On this website, I chronicle my path to learning to play the shakuhachi. My teacher is Kiku Day. Remember that I’m not very experienced, so take anything I say here with a grain of rice.

Honkyoku is a type of piece for shakuhachi originally played by komosu, itinerant Zen monks.

You can get in touch with me through my main website, Kirkville. And you can follow me on Twitter or Instagram.
